MMA Odds and Ends for Tuesday: Travis Browne vs. Derrick Lewis set as UFC Halifax main event

480 Travis Browne vs. Derrick Lewis set as UFC Halifax main event, other matchups added UFC Fight Night 105 in Halifax now has a main event, as heavyweights Travis Browne and Derrick Lewis will clash. Yahoo Sports! was the first to confirm the news. This comes after the UFC was unable to find a replacement for the injured Stefan Struve against Junior Dos Santos. Lewis (17-4) heads into this matchup on a five-fight win streak, including a fourth-round knockout victory over Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC Fight Night Albany. Browne (18-5-1) has lost three of his last four fights, including a unanimous decision to Fabricio Werdum at UFC 203. Among the other bouts added to the card on Monday included an intriguing women’s bantamweight matchup between Sara McMann and Liz Carmouche. McMann (10-3) is coming off an impressive submission win over Alexis Davis at The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale back in December. Carmouche (11-5) heads into this fight off a decision victory against Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 205 in November. In addition, two others were added to the card, as UFC vet Sam Sicilia (14-7) battles undefeated Canadian Gavin Tucker (9-0) in a featherweight affair and fellow Canadian Ryan Janes (9-1) takes on former RFA champion Gerald Meerschaert (25-8). UFC Fight Night 105 is set to take place on February 19th at the Scotiabank Centre. Two more matchups added to UFC Fight Night 106 in Brazil Combate reported Monday that a flyweight matchup between Jussier Formiga and Ray Borg has been added to UFC Fight Night event in Fortaleza, Brazil. In addition, Rony Jason and Jeremy Kennedy will clash in a featherweight affair. Formiga (19-4) is coming off a decision win over Dustin Ortiz last September and was slated to take on Sergio Pettis earlier this month but was forced to withdraw due to injury. Borg (10-2) has won four of his last five fights, including an impressive decision victory against Louis Smolka back at UFC 207. Jason (14-6) has gone 1-3 in his last four fights and is coming off a loss to Dennis Bermudez last August. Kennedy (9-0) moves back down to featherweight after defeating Alessandro Ricci at UFC on FOX 21 in a lightweight bout in August. UFC Fight Night 106 takes place at the Olympic Training Center in Fortaleza on March 11th.
