MMA Odds and Ends for Friday: Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum rematch set for UFC 207

480 Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum rematch set for UFC 207 UFC officials announced Thursday that heavyweights Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum will rematch at UFC 207 this December. Velasquez (14-2) bounced back in his last fight earning a first-round TKO of Travis Brown at UFC 200. The AKA product lost his UFC heavyweight title to Werdum back at UFC 188. Werdum (21-6-1) lost the heavyweight title to Stipe Miocic at UFC 203, but rebounded against Browne at UFC 203. UFC 207 takes place Dec. 30 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.   Alexis Davis vs. Sara McMann, Jared Cannonier vs. Ion Cutelaba added to TUF 24 Finale in December  MMAFighting (via ESPN) reported Thursday that former UFC women bantamweight contenders Alexis Davis and Sara McMann will clash at the TUF 24 Finale this December. Davis (17-6) hasn’t competed since a April 2015 submission victory over former Strikeforce champion Sarah Kaufman at UFC 186. The 32-year old gave birth earlier this year, and took time away from the cage because of this. McMann (9-3) heads into this contest off a unanimous decision victory over Jessica Eye at UFC Fight Night 88. She’s 2-3 in her last five contests. In addition UFC officials announced that light heavyweights Jared Cannonier and Ion Cutelaba will also face off on the card. Cannonier (8-1) has gone 1-1 in the UFC, earning a win over Cyril Asker in his last bout at UFC Fight Night 86 while dropping his UFC debut to Shawn Jordan at UFC 182. Cutelaba (12-2) simliarly lost his UFC debut to Misha Cirkunov but rebounded with a decision victory over Jonathan Wilson at UFC Portland last month. Prior to the show, the 28-year old had won four of his last five fights. Smith (14-6) heads into this matchup off back-to-back fights including wins over Dan Miller and most recently Joe Gigliotti. Craig (8-0) has won seven of his eight career matchups by submission and competes for the first time in 2016. Da Silva (12-0) has won 11 of his 12 career bouts by knockout and has gone 2-0 in the UFC with wins over Jonathan Wilson and most recently Joachim Christensen at UFC Fight Night 96.
