Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 117 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 117 is a five-round featherweight bout between Arnold Allen and Melquizael Costa. Allen is coming off a decision loss to Jean Silva, and he has lost three of his last four fights overall, but they were all against top competition. As for Costa, he has won six straight fights, and he holds an impressive 7-2 overall record inside the Octagon. It’s a difficult main event to predict, given Allen is the more proven commodity. But Costa has been red hot as of late, and you’d be silly to count him out of winning this one.
- In the co-main event, we have a featherweight bout between Dooho Choi and Daniel Santos. Choi, a UFC Hall of Famer for his epic 2016 fight against Cub Swanson, is coming off back-to-back wins over Nate Landwehr and Bill Algeo, both by knockout. As for Choi, he has won four straight fights since he lost his UFC debut in 2022. This is a close fight and one that is very difficult to call, hence the even betting odds. It’s a fight that can go either way, and the oddsmakers opened it as a Pick ’em for that very reason.
