Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 323 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 323 is a rematch between UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili and Petr Yan. These two met several years ago, with Dvalishvili dominating the fight in every facet. Since then, all Dvalishvili has done is continue to win fights. Yan is an amazing talent, but Dvalishvili is arguably the most dominant champion in the UFC right now. The oddsmakers opened up Dvalishvili as a big betting favorite, and the line has only swelled since then. Based on his dominance, it’s completely understandable why he’s so heavily favored.
- In the co-main event, we have the UFC flyweight title on the line between champion Alexandre Pantoja and challenger Joshua Van. Pantoja is coming off eight straight wins, including five wins in a row in title fights. As for Van, he is 8-1 since he entered the UFC in 2023. Pantoja is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, but it’s hard to deny what Van has done in his UFC career at such a young age. It makes sense that Pantoja is the betting favorite, but if anyone is going to challenge him for his title, it’s a young stud like Van.
