Sean Strickland and Anthony Hernandez meet in the main event of UFC Fight Night Houston in what should be a more competitive fight than the odds suggest.
‘Fluffy’ Hernandez is now a 3-1 favorite in some books, with the best price I have found being (-275). While I do favor him to win this fight based on forward pressure, cage control, and takedowns, I believe this fight will be much more back and forth, with resistance from Strickland.
Strickland is a fine fighter and much better on the feet with striking than Hernandez is. He has pretty good takedown defense and should be able to get back up if he is taken down by Hernandez, which I fully expect him to be. The only fighter I see with potential to finish this fight is Hernandez with his submissions, but he struggles all the time to keep his opponents on the mat. So, if Strickland can continue to get back up, circle away, and defend some takedowns, then I do think we can reach the scorecards here.
It is a pretty straightforward breakdown here. Of course, Hernandez could get a submission early on. I can see Strickland pumping his jab and kicking out to keep Hernandez at bay. We just need a competitive fight with Strickland defending his neck and limbs on the ground and continuously working to get back to his feet.
