UFC Fight Night 92’s Cub Swanson: ‘I’ve got to take away Kawajiri’s tools’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 92 featherweight Cub Swanson as he prepares for his upcoming preliminary card bout this Saturday (August 6, 2016) against Tatsuya Kawajiri at the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The top-ranked featherweight has definitely done his homework in advance of his upcoming bout, and it’s very unlikely he’ll be surprised by anything his opponent brings to the table

“I watched the tapes and started going back a bit further. It’s weird. [Kawajiri] has a really weird stand-up style and it’s very safe. He doesn’t want to get hit, but when he wants to take you down, he’s gonna smother you. He’s trying to hide all that. I definitely respect what he brings to the table. He throws a weak overhand and combines it with a spinning backfist and he’s caught a lot of people with it. He’s got a running kick, he’s got some tools. You’ve just gotta take those tools away from him and take advantage of his vulnerable points.”
