Post-UFC 199: On the Chopping Block

MFC-36The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was live from The Forum in Los Angeles with UFC 199: Rockhold vs Bisping with a stacked 13-fight card, eight of which ended by way of T/KO. Following the insanely fun and memorable night of mixed martial arts action, let’s take a look at which of the evening’s competitors we may no longer see inside the Octagon… ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK Elvis Mutapcic Mutapcic is now 0-1-1 in the UFC, with a unanimous decision loss to Francimar Barroso and a Split Draw against fellow “King” Kevin Casey. Having failed to pick up a win in two outings inside the Octagon, I think there’s a chance that the UFC sends him his pink slip, but I would say it is slightly more likely that he gets one last crack. He really has not been very impressive in his short UFC tenure, so I could see them parting ways with him after a Draw. Dong Hyun Kim “The Other Dong Hyun Kim,” as everyone calls him, is now 0-2 inside the Octagon, with both defeats coming by way of third round knockout. He has been put out cold in the third and final stanza of both his bouts. He had his moments in Saturday night’s loss to Marco Polo Reyes to kick off the UFC 199 Fight Pass prelims, nearly knocking the Mexican out on a number of occasions. It was an incredible back and forth battle that earned the pair the evening’s ‘Fight of the Night’ honors, which I recommended making in my Fight of the Night betting article for the card. Following the pair of knockout losses, I think there is a fair chance that the UFC releases Kim from his contract, but I would not be surprised to see them give him a third and final crack, considering he left it all inside the Octagon this past weekend.
