Prop Plays for UFC Fight Night 73 in Nashville

Scott HoltzmanUFC Fight Night 73 Date: August 8, 2015 Arena: Bridgestone Arena City: Nashville, TN The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to Nasvhille, TN for the third time in promotional history tomorrow night (August 8, 2015) for UFC Fight Night 73: Saint Preux vs Teixeira. The 13-fight card will get going with Fight Pass prelims at 6:30pm, with FOX Sports 2 prelims to follow at 8pm and main card action being live at 10pm ET on FOX Sports 1. If interested in wagering on these props, or any plays on this fight card, all betting lines will be made available at Several Bookmakerss. Here are my prop plays for UFC Fight Night 73 in Nashville: Glover Teixeira (+100) vs Ovince St Preux (-110) OSP in Round One (+450) .5u to win 2.25u Despite Teixeira being tough to finish, I think OSP has a decent chance of putting him away. He possesses incredible power and if he connects, I think he can really score the knockout. I could see this fight playing out similarly to that of the Shogun bout, with OSP catching Teixeira really early and not giving him a chance to get in the fight. A year or more ago, I would have made a big play on Teixeira over OSP, however, today I like the constantly-improving up-and comer-over the veteran who appears to be on a decline, and I’ll take a shot at him earning another first round finish, as I see value in it at the current offering price of +450. Jared Rosholt (-235) vs Timothy Johnson (+215) Rosholt by Decision (+170) 1u to win 1.7u I think this is the most likely outcome to this heavyweight match-up and at +170, I see value in it for the wager. Rosholt is -235 straight up and I think he almost surely wins in no other way than by decision, so the +170 looks far more appealing. Despite being at a size disadvantage, I think he will find success using his superior wrestling. I see him grinding Johnson out against the cage, as well as scoring takedowns and doing more of the same there for three rounds of action en route to a unanimous decision victory on the judges’ scorecards. Geane Herrera (+400) vs Ray Borg (-450) Herrera +3.5 (+195) 2u to win 3.9u I am a big Ray Borg fan but I think he is being way over-valued in this bout, which I could easily see going either way. That said, I lean towards the promotional newcomer and massive underdog Herrera to pick up the win, ultimately remaining undefeated as a pro. It doesn’t hurt that Borg was unable to make weight earlier today. Though, should Herrera come out on the losing end, I think it will most likely be via split decision, and if it’s unanimous, I think he will have done enough to at least have won a round, so I think there’s a lot of value in the Herrera +3.5 prop at +195. Anthony Christodoulou (+660) vs Scott Holtzman (-840) Holtzman in Round One (+175) 1u to win 1.75u Holtzman by Submission (+607) 1u to win 6.07u Holtzman -3.5 (-385) 3.85u to win 1u In my opinion, Holtzman is a very justified heavy betting favorite in this lightweight contest, despite it being his promotional debut. Even if Octagon jitters play a factor, I think he will still have his way with Christodoulou. I see him making quick work of the Greek and letting the UFC’s 155-pound division know he has arrived. I think there is a decent chance that he submits Christodoulou, so I see good value in the Holtzman by Submission prop at +607.
