Bellator 131’s Joe Schilling: ‘Accepting the Manhoef fight was a no-brainer’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 131 middleweight Joe Schilling as he prepares for his upcoming main card bout against Melvin Manhoef tonight (November 15, 2014) at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California.

The talented kickboxer is attempting his second stint in mixed martial arts, and he feels Melvin Manhoef is the perfect opponent for him due to their styles:

“Melvin Manhoef is the type of opponent that’s perfect for me in MMA and the type of guy I wanted to fight. It was kind of a fight that I wanted to happen in ‘Last Man Standing.’ He’s a big name and a guy I respect. That was a fight that was intriguing to me then and having it in MMA was great. Obviously if they’d offered me a Division I All-American wrestler, I would have been more hesitant to accept the fight, but me and Melvin is a super exciting fight. Styles make fights and this is a great one on a big show so it’s really good.”
