In a middleweight bout, Costas Philippou defeated Lorenz Larkin via first-round KO (punches). Philippou was counted out by many but ht he was able to find Larkin’s chin and knock him out cold for the win. Philippou was +145 and Larkin was -155. In a lightweight bout, Daron Cruickshank defeated Erik Koch via first-round TKO (head kick and punches). Cruickshank landed a huge bomb on Koch’s chin and finished him quickly in the first round. Cruickshank was +265 and Koch was -295. In a welterweight bout, Neil Magny defeated Tim Means via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28 x 2). Magny was able to score takedowns at the right time and get the decision over Means. Magny was +275 and Means was -305. In a flyweight bout, Chris Cariaso defeated Louis Smolka via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28). Cariaso was the better striker throughout the course of 15 minutes and deserved to get the win. Cariaso was +135, Smolka -145. In a middleweight bout, Ed Herman defeated Rafael Natal via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28 x 2). It was a close fight but Herman landed the better strikes and stole the decision on the judges’ scorecards. Herman was +140, Natal -150. In a welterweight bout, Zak Cummings defeated Yan Cabral via unanimous decision (29-28 x 3). Cummings kept the fight standing and outstruck Cabral en route to a decision win. Cummings was +475, Cabral -560. In a bantamweight bout, Johnny Eduardo defeated Eddie Wineland via first-round KO (punches). Although Wineland was winning the fight early on, Eduardo was eventually able to find his chin and win via vicious knockout. Eduardo closed at +735, while Wineland lost as a massive -935 favorite. UFC Fight Night 40 Favorites That Won In a heavyweight bout, Soa Palelei defeated Ruan Potts via first-round KO (punches). Palelei took the fight down early and finished Potts with a quick ground-and-pound knockout for the win. Palelei was -310 and Potts was +280. In a flyweight bout, Kyogi Horiguichi defeated Darrell Montague via unanimous decision (30-27 x 2, 29-28). Although Montague hung in close, Horiguchi landed more strikes and deserved the win. The Japanese product was -210, while Montague was +190. In a featherweight bout, Nik Lentz defeated Manny Gamburyan via unanimous decision (30-27 x 3). Lentz was able to take Gamburyan down at will for three rounds and outstrike him for the clear-cut decision win. Lentz was -540 while Gamburyan was +460. In a lightweight bout, Justin Salas defeated Ben Wall via first-round KO (punches). Salas nailed Wall with a right hand behind the ear and then followed it up with a straight left right down the pipe for the KO win. Salas closed at -290, Wall +260. In a welterweight bout, Albert Tumenov defeated Anthony Lapsley via first-round KO (punches). Tumenov stuffed the takedowns and was able to keep the fight standing and finish Lapsley with a brutal short right hook for the win. Tumenov was -265, Lapsley +245.
