UFC 167’s Chael Sonnen on Wanderlei Silva: ‘It’s hard to sell a fight when the other guy sucks’

MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC 167 light heavyweight Chael Sonnen as he prepares for his co-headlining bout on Saturday night (Nov. 16, 2013) against Rashad Evans at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The mouthy ex-realtor had plenty of choice words for a certain former Pride champion who he’s scheduled to square off against in 2014 after coaching against him on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Brazil season three (even if his trash talk wasn’t entirely accurate):

“Wanderlei [Silva] sucks. It’s hard to sell a fight when the other guy sucks. I didn’t ask for that fight because it’s a contender’s fight or it’s anything else. I asked for it because he sucks and I wanted an easy night. I tell the truth about Wanderlei a lot. Look, he’s got the worst record in the UFC. People will think I’m taking jabs at him but these are just his numbers. He has five wins and eight losses. Not only is that terrible, but he won his last two fights. That means at one point Wanderlei Silva had three wins and eight losses. Even as terrible as Cro Cop was, even Cro Cop’s record was better than that. Wanderlei sucks and that’s why I’m picking a fight with him.”
