MMA Odds and Ends for Thursday: Demian Maia vs Colby Covington set for UFC Fight Night 119

MMAJunkie reported Wednesday that two-time UFC title challenger Demian Maia will face Colby Covington at UFC Fight Night 119 on October 28th in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Covington (12-1) heads into this matchup on a four-fight win streak, including a unanimous-decision win over Dong Hyun Kim at UFC Fight Night 111 in his last fight. The American Top Team standout’s lone loss was to Warlley Alves back at UFC 194 in December 2015.

Jeremy Kennedy vs. Alex Volkanovski added to UFC Fight Night 121 in Sydney

A pair of featherweight prospects square off in November as Canadian Jeremy Kennedy faces Alex Volkanovski. Australia’s The Daily Telegraph was the first to break the news.

The 24-year-old has five wins by stoppage but has yet to finish any of his opponents in the UFC. Volkanovski (15-1) heads into this matchup on a twelve-fight winning streak, including back-to-back victories in the UFC over Yusuke Kasuya and Mizuto Hirota.

Here’s my exclusive interview with Kennedy prior to the matchup being official to the public:
