Post-UFC Fight Night 111: And the Bonus Goes to…

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back in Singapore for the second time in promotional history last Saturday (June 17, 2017) with UFC Fight Night 111: Holm vs. Correia. It was an entertaining night of action that saw six of 12 bouts end inside the distance. After the event concluded, the UFC awarded $50,000 to two fighters for “Performance of the Night” and two fighters for “Fight of the Night.” The lines to wager on these props were available at Several Bookmakers.

The post-fight bonus winners were…

Holly Holm earns Performance of the Night for her second-round head-kick knockout of Bethe Correia. It was a lackluster fight that drew boos from the Singapore crowd until the highlight-reel finish by Holm, who was suffering a three-fight losing streak heading into this main event contest scheduled for five rounds. Ending her skid with this victory could potentially put her next in line for a title shot in what is a razor-thin division.

Ulka Sasaki earns Performance of the Night for his second-round rear-naked choke submission of Justin Scoggins, who was a massive favorite over the Japanese fighter going into the contest. Sasaki returned to the win column with the finish, which followed a unanimous-decision loss to Wilson Reis earlier this year. He is the biggest flyweight in the division, and his size and length helped him in this one. Fight fans look forward to seeing Sasaki back in action inside the Octagon, as he puts on a fun pace every time he steps foot in the cage.

Noteworthy Performance(s):

– Jon Tuck defeated Takanori Gomi via first-round rear-naked choke to end his three-fight losing streak.

– Walt Harris defeated Cyril Asker via first-round TKO. He dropped Asker and then followed up with a ground-and-pound attack to earn the stoppage victory.

– Russell Doane defeated Kwan Ko Kwak via first-round knockout to snap his four-fight losing streak and return to the win column at 135 pounds.

Li Jingliang and Frank Camacho earn Fight of the Night for their three-round war on the evening’s preliminary card. Camacho got the better of Jingliang in the early going of the fight, winning the first round. But Jingliang came back and took over the next two rounds to pick up a unanimous-decision victory on the judges’ scorecards. Despite the defeat, Camacho impressed in his Octagon debut, and fight fans look forward to his return to action, which will likely be at his natural weight class of 155 pounds.

Noteworthy fight(s):

– None.
