Post-UFC 212: And the Bonus Goes to…

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the eighth time in promotional history last Saturday (June 3, 2017) with UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway. It was a solid night of scraps that saw nine of 12 bouts end inside the distance. After the event concluded, the UFC awarded $50,000 to two fighters for “Performance of the Night” and two fighters for “Fight of the Night.” The lines to wager on these props were available at Several Bookmakers.

The post-fight bonus winners were…

Claudia Gadelha earns Performance of the Night for her first-round rear-naked choke submission of Karolina Kowalkiewicz, making quick work of the recent Polish title challenger. It was an incredible outing by Gadelha and an impressive finish, well deserving of the bonus. She now enjoys a two-fight winning streak inside the Octagon since her failed bid at the gold in her rematch with the current champ Joanna Jędrzejczyk. She is now close to another title shot, which is something fight fans want to see, because their first bout was a razor thin split decision. She was also winning the rematch with Jędrzejczyk until running out of gas. If she has her cardio in check, a third fight will definitely be interesting.

Brian Kelleher earns Performance of the Night for his first-round guillotine-choke submission of veteran Iuri Alcantara. It was a picture perfect UFC debut for Kelleher, who used his post-fight speech to call out Top 10 opponents for his next outing. Fight fans look forward to seeing him back inside the Octagon.

Other noteworthy performance(s):

– Antonio Carlos Junior defeated Eric Spicely via second-round rear-naked choke submission after an entertaining grappling-heavy first round.

– Matthew Lopez defeated Johnny Eduardo via first-round TKO after scoring a takedown and surviving a kneebar attempt from the Brazilian, which left him limping after the contest.

Max Holloway and Jose Aldo earn Fight of the Night honors for their scrap in the main event of the evening. Aldo got the better of the Hawaiian for the majority of the first two rounds until Holloway began to turn the tides at the end of the second. It was all Holloway in the third, as he hurt the Brazilian and earned a TKO stoppage on the mat after brutalizing him with punches for the majority of the frame.

Other noteworthy fight(s):

– None.
