Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Dana White’s Contender Series 94:
- The main event of DWCS 94 is a lightweight bout between George Staines and Loai Abushaar. Staind is a perfect 10-0 in his MMA career with plenty of experience competing in Cage Warriors and OKTAGON MMA. He most recently fought in June, when he picked up a submission victory in Cage Warriors to gain the interest of the UFC matchmakers for this bout on DWCS. As for Abushaar, he is 7-1 with all seven of his pro wins coming by knockout or submission, so he is a true finisher. He has won four fights in a row to gain this opportunity to compete on DWCS, with experience competing in LFA and CFFC. While I expect Abushaar to come out swinging and look for the knockout in the first round, Staines is the superior fighter, and he should find a finish later in this fight once he gets Abushaar a bit tired.
- Also on the card is a heavyweight bout between Zaurbek Sabanov and Adema Diop. Sabanov is 4-0 in his MMA career, with his last three wins coming by knockout. As for Diop, he is 6-1 in his MMA career, with five of his wins coming by stoppage. This should be an exciting slugfest for as long as it lasts, but it’s difficult to go against Sabanov in this fight and get a UFC contract.
