Dana White’s Contender Series 90 takes place on Tuesday, September 1, at Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The offshore sportsbooks recently opened up the betting odds for the event, and MMAOB staff writer Adam Martin looks at the opening odds below.

Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 90

Adam Darby -500
Patrick Rivera +383

Brandon Holmes -265
Modestino Rodrigues +219

Liam McCracken -225
Silvestre Sanchez +189

Charlie Cleveland -265
Gabriel Lourenco +219

Adam Livingston -175
Hunter Smith +153

Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Dana White’s Contender Series 90:

  • The headliner of DWCS 90 is a welterweight bout between Adam Darby and Patrick Rivera. Darby is 7-1 and comes to DWCS from Cage Warriors, where he has spent his entire MMA career. He has won his last six fights in a row, with five of those wins coming by stoppage. Most of the Irishman’s wins have come in the first round, showing how dangerous he is. As for Rivera, he has won six straight fights and is the Shogun Fights welterweight champion. He has a lot of experience, but at age 34 is one of the older fighters on DWCS this season, and he is clearly the B-side in this fight against the young, stud prospect in Darby, who should win by stoppage and earn a UFC deal.
  • In the co-headliner, we have a middleweight bout between Brandon Holmes and Modestino Rodregues. Holmes fought on DWCS last summer, but he was knocked out by Cam Rowston in the first round. He has won one fight since then to earn another chance on DWCS. As for Rodregues, he is a K-1 kickboxer who has won all of his MMA victories by knockout. Holmes would be smart to take this fight to the ground, because if it stays standing, Rodregues absolutely can knock him out and win this fight as the betting underdog.
