Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Dana White’s Contender Series 88:
- The main event of Week 2 of DWCS Season 10 is a welterweight bout between Namo Fazil and Kaik Brito. Fazil is coming off a submission win on the MVP MMA card that got him the attention of the UFC matchmakers, who are giving him a UFC tryout on DWCS. With a 10-1 record including eight finishes, Fazil seems like a promising prospect. As for Brito, he is a DWCS veteran who lost a majority decision to Oban Elliott back in 2023. Since then, he has won three of his last four fights to earn this spot on DWCS. In his last fight, he won the Oktagon MMA vacant welterweight belt. Still, this looks like a tough matchup for him, and one that Fazil is a big favorite in for a reason.
- In the co-main event, we have a middleweight bout between Douglas Rodrigues and Trent Miller. Rodrigues has won his last five fights in a row, including winning the Future FC vacant middleweight bout by knockout in his last fight. As for Miller, he was knocked out by Ryan Gandra during last summer’s DWCS, but he picked up a win in Fusion Fight League in his last fight to earn another shot on DWCS. Still, this is going to be a tough fight for him, and there is a reason why Rodrigues is a big favorite to get his hand raised.
