Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Sacramento Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Sacramento is a five-round middleweight bout between top contenders Anthony Hernandez and Gregory Rodrigues. Hernandez is coming off a knockout loss to Sean Strickland in a fight where he failed to earn a title shot at 185 lbs, but you can’t dismiss the eight-fight win streak that he had before that. As for Rodrigues, he is riding a three-fight win streak into this fight and is closing in on the elite of the middleweight division. This is a very important fight at 185 lbs, and it should be a good one, as these are two of the top fighters in the weight class going against each other. It makes sense that Hernandez is favored, but you can’t discount Rodrigues from winning.
- At heavyweight, Serghei Spivac faces Vitor Petrino. Spivac is coming off a decision win over Ante Delija in his last fight, which broke a two-fight losing skid for the veteran. As for Petrino, he is 3-0 since moving up to the UFC’s heaviest weight class and has been looking like a rising contender. That’s why Petrino is the favorite to win this fight, even though Spivac has far more experience competing in the weight class.
