Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 330 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 330 sees UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev put his belt on the line when he takes on Ian Machado Garry. Makhachev is the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the sport right now. He is 17-1 overall in the UFC and is currently riding a 16-fight win streak into this bout against Machado Garry. Should Makhachev win the fight, he will break the record he currently co-owns with UFC legend Anderson Silva for the longest win streak in UFC history, with 17. As for Machado Garry, he is 10-1 overall in the UFC and is coming off back-to-back wins against Carlos Prates and Belal Muhammad. Although Machado Garry has looked great overall in the UFC, Makhachev is a different beast, and this won’t be an easy fight for him to win. Though Machado Garry certainly has a chance, Makhachev is the clear favorite.
- In the co-main event, UFC women’s strawweight champion Mackenzie Dern defends her belt for the first time against Gillian Robertson. Dern is riding a three-fight win streak right now while Robertson has won five fights in a row, so both women are red hot right now heading into this fight. That being said, Dern is the defending champ, so it makes sense that she is the favorite to defend her title.
