Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Houston Opening Odds:
- In the main event of UFC Houston, Anthony Hernandez faces Sean Strickland in a key middleweight matchup between title contenders. Hernandez has won eight straight fights, and if he beats Strickland, he is likely going to be next in line to fight UFC middleweight Khamzat Chimaev. As for Strickland, he has lost two of his last three fights, but those two defeats came against former middleweight champ Dricus Du Plessis. While Strickland is a terrific fighter and a former champion in his own right, it’s hard to go against Hernandez right now, given his long winning streak, and it makes sense that he is the favorite to win this fight.
- Also slated for UFC Houston, Dan Ige takes on Melquizael Costa at featherweight. Ige is one of the most well-respected fighters in the weight class, but he has lost three of his last four fights and could be on the decline. As for Costa, he is one of the hottest fighters in the weight class, having won five straight fights in a row. While Ige is a solid veteran who always puts up a tough fight, you have to lean toward Costa here, given the incredible momentum he carries into this contest.
