Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 81:
- The main event of this week’s episode of Dana White’s Contender Series features heavyweights Anthony Guarascio and Steven Asplund. Guarascio comes to DWCS from CFFC, where he was the promotion’s heavyweight champion. He is unbeaten in his MMA career, with all of his wins coming by way of stoppage. As for Asplund, he comes to DWCS from LFA, where he has won his last two fights in a row. This should be an exciting fight that ends inside the distance, and likely in the first round, given how much power both men have. I lean toward Guarascio to win, however, given that he has never tasted defeat in his career.
- Also on the card is a featherweight bout between Lerryan Douglas and Cam Teague. Douglas comes to DWCS from LFA, where he was the promotion’s featherweight champion. He has won four straight fights by finish, including a notable stoppage win over Elijah Johns in his last fight, who is the brother of current UFC fighter Miles Johns. As for Teague, he fought on DWCS last year, getting knocked out by current UFC standout Kevin Vallejos. Teague has won two MMA fights and one boxing match since then, earning another try on DWCS. While Teague is a decent fighter, you have to lean toward Douglas getting his hand raised here.
