Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 77:
- The first DWCS episode this year features five fights with several highly-touted prospects who could find their way into the Octagon. The headliner of this card is a middleweight bout between Ilian Bouafia and Neemias Santana. Bouafia comes to DWCS from Ares FC, where he was one of the promotion’s top middleweights, and he enters DWCS with an undefeated record. As for Santana, he is a former LFA fighter who comes to DWCS fighting out of Brazil. Both of these fighters have a ton of finishes on their resumes, so this bout likely won’t go the distance, given that both men have serious finishing ability. Bouafia opened as a big favorite here, but the early money came in on Santana, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he wins.
- Also on the card is a welterweight bout between Jimmy Drago and Ty Miller. Drago is a CFFC vet who is unbeaten over his last four contests. As for Miller, he enters DWCS from the LFA, and he has an undefeated record as a pro. This should be a good fight, and one of the interesting things about it is that both men are coming off of No Contests. Again, this could be a fight that goes either way, but Miller being favored as the undefeated prospect makes sense.
