Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 319 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 319 is the UFC middleweight title fight between champion Dricus Du Plessis and challenger Khamzat Chimaev. Du Plessis is a perfect 9-0 in the UFC, and he has beaten Sean Strickland, Israel Adesanya, and Robert Whittaker, among others. Chimaev, meanwhile, has gone 8-0 inside the UFC Octagon, and some of his top victories include Whittaker, Kamaru Usman, and Kevin Holland. This should be an outstanding fight, and one that both fighters have a path to victory in. Chimaev will have a good chance to finish the fight in the first two rounds, but if Du Plessis can survive after the first two rounds, then he is going to have a good chance to finish Chimaev as the fight goes into the deeper rounds.
- In the co-main event, we have Aaron Pico making his UFC debut against Lerone Murphy in a featherweight bout. Pico comes to the UFC from Bellator and PFL, where he was a top contender but never won the belt. As for Murphy, he has an 8-0-1 record in the UFC, but he is the underdog in this fight. There is a lot of hype behind Pico right now, but getting Murphy as an underdog is surprising.
