Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 284 Opening Odds:

  • The main event of UFC 284 sees UFC lightweight champion put his belt on the line against UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski in a super fight between two of the best MMA fighters in the world. Both fighters are on long winning streaks inside the Octagon and this should be an absolutely phenomenal fight when it goes down this weekend in Australia. With Makhachev being the bigger fighter and Volkanovski moving up in weight, he’s the odds-on favorite to get his hand raised and defend his 155lbs belt. That being said, Volkanovski is an amazing fighter, and if anyone can pull off the upset, it has to be the Australian superstar.
  • The co-main event of UFC 284 sees Yair Rodriguez and Josh Emmett battle for the interim featherweight title. Rodriguez and Emmett are two of the best featherweights in the world and both men were very deserving of fighting for the belt, but with Volkanovski moving up in weight, the UFC decided to create an interim belt. This fight should be very interesting to watch play out. Rodriguez is extremely talented but Emmett has had a ton of success inside the Octagon. It should be an amazing fight to watch play out regardless of who wins it.
