Here are my quick thoughts on PFL Challenger Series 2023: Week 3:
- The main event of PFL Challenger Series 2023: Week 3 is a light heavyweight bout between Danilo Marques and Ras Hylton. Marques is best known for his stint in the UFC, where he went 2-2 overall inside the Octagon. He defeated Khadis Ibragimov and Mike Rodriguez before losing to Kennedy Nzechukwu and Jailton Almeida and getting cut. Since being released by the UFC, he has won his only fight on the regional scene, but it came against an opponent with a 0-0 record, so you can’t take much away from it. As for Hylton, he is a former Bellator fighter who went 1-1 in the promotion before being released. Since then, he has won all three of his fights on the regional scene by knockout. While Hylton has a puncher’s chance here, Marques’ grappling skills should be enough for him to get his hand raised in this fight.
- Also on the card is a light heavyweight bout between Greg Velasco and Vitor Resende. Velasco has won all five of his pro MMA fights, and he’s the current CFFC heavyweight champion, having won the vacant belt in his last five. As for Resende, he’s a perfect 4-0 with all of his wins coming by stoppage. Overall, this looks like a very good fight between two promising prospects. Considering Velasco has been fighting for a very good promotion in CFFC, it makes sense that he’s the betting favorite for this fight.
