Here are my quick thoughts on the Eagle FC 46:
- The main event of Eagle FC 46 is a three-round 165lbs bout between former UFC stars Kevin Lee and Diego Sanchez. For both fighters, this is their first fight since being cut by the UFC. Lee is just 29 years old and he is coming into Eagle FC 46 off of back-to-back losses to Daniel Rodriguez and Charles Oliveira. There is absolutely no shame in either of those losses, and it was quite a shock when the UFC decided to let Lee go. Sanchez, meanwhile, is 40 and he was released by the UFC last year. He hasn’t fought since September 2020 when he lost a decision to Jake Matthews. It’s really hard to back Sanches in this spot against Lee, given all he’s gone through, but at the same time, Lee has faced his own share of struggles as of late.
- As for the co-main event, it’s Rizvan Kuniev vs. Anthony Hamilton for the EFC heavyweight title that Kuniev currently owns. He is a big heavyweight on a roll and it was surprising when the UFC didn’t sign him last year after he won on the Contender Series. As for Hamilton, he’s a UFC veteran who was knocked out in his last fight. Hamilton has no business fighting for a title, and I fully expect Kuniev to show there are levels to this game with another stoppage win.
