Matchup with Livia Renata Souza

In a battle of Brazilian strawweights, former Invicta champion Livia Renata Souza takes on newcomer Sarah Frota. The newcomer will be dangerous in the opening moments of the fight as she possesses a very good overhand left. Beyond that, this is Souza’s fight to lose. Souza is a physical fighter and has a good offensive wrestling game. Souza is the stronger fighter and I don’t expect her to have much of an issue getting Frota to the mat. Even if Frota threatens with submissions, Souza is way too polished on the mat to be troubled in this bout. Look for Souza to control this fight from beginning to end to win by submission or wide decision. Souza is one of the better parlay pieces on the card at -220.

UFC Ceiling

Sarah Frota is an intriguing stand up fighter with a dangerous left hand, but has too many holes in her game to be a real threat to the top 10 of the strawweight division. Her conditioning needs to improve if she’s to be dangerous beyond the first round of her fights.
