Recently Retired Marcus Davis: ‘Brad Tavares gets controlled easily on the ground’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with recently retired fighter Marcus Davis, who’s been coaching UFC Fight Night 47 middleweight Tim Boetsch as he prepares for his upcoming main card bout against Brad Tavares tonight (August 16, 2014) at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine.

The UFC veteran believes that the ground game will be the deciding factor in Boetsch’s fight against Tavares tonight:

“On the ground, Brad Tavares has a very basic ground game. Hopefully, for his sake, he’s worked on being in half guard. He doesn’t do so well when he’s in bottom half guard. His go-to from there is to get that outside half butterfly hook in and to go for the full butterfly hook and try to stand up from there. I’ve seen a lot of times on the ground where he gets taken down and he gets controlled quite easily once he’s taken down. That’s kind of the stuff we’re focusing on. As far as Tim being a wrestler, Brad Tavares isn’t. He’s not gonna outwrestle Tim.”
