Here are my quick thoughts on PFL Challenger Series 2023: Week 6:

  • This week we have the featherweights on the PFL Challenger Series. In the headliner, Brayhan Zurcher takes on David Evans. Zurcher turned pro in 2021 and so far he has a perfect 4-0 record as a professional, including two wins in PFL. As for Evans, he turned pro in 2019 and he has a 4-1 record as a pro so far. He hasn’t fought in PFL yet, but he has fought for some other solid regional MMA promotions such as LFA and Titan FC. Overall, it’s hard to go against Zurcher in this fight given that he is an undefeated prospect. But the betting odds are close, giving respect to Evans, who has also looked quite solid during his MMA career.
  • Also on the card is a featherweight bout between Nate Kelly and Zachary Hicks. Kelly has been a pro since 2017 and the SBG Ireland product has a 6-2 record so far as a pro. He has fought for both Bellator and PFL, so he has fought in some big and notable MMA promotions. He is currently riding a six-fight win streak heading into this bout, and he hasn’t lost since 2018, so he enters this fight with a five-year unbeaten streak. As for Hicks, he has been a pro since 2014 and has mostly fought for smaller regional MMA promotions. He is currently riding a three-fight win streak heading into this bout as he looks to earn a PFL contract. However, his level of competition hasn’t been great, and that’s why Kelly is such a big betting favorite here.
