Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 48:
- Dana White’s Contender Series Season 6 continues this Tuesday with another five fights. In the headliner, Charlie Campbell takes on Chris Duncan in a lightweight bout. Campbell is trained by Matt Serra and so far he is 6-1 as a pro. Just 27 years old, Campbell has won his last five fights in a row, with four of those wins coming by finish, including fights for Bellator and CFFC. He looks like a solid prospect from all indications. As for Duncan, he is 8-1 and is 29 years old. The Scot lost on Contender Series to Slava Borschev last year but he is getting another chance this season after picking up a win on the regional scene in his last fight. This looks like a competitive matchup, but Campbell opened up as the betting favorite for it.
- Also on the card is a heavyweight bout between Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Danilo Suzart. Cortes-Acosta is 6-0 as a pro and he is the former LFA heavyweight champion. He is one of the best heavyweight prospects in MMA right now and he would make a great addition to the UFC if he gets past his opponent here. Suzart, meanwhile, is 9-1 and he has won his last three fights in a row. It’s a heavyweight bout, so one punch can end it at any moment, but Cortes-Acosta opened up as the betting favorite and it makes sense given his MMA record.
