MMA Odds and Ends for Thursday: CM Punk makes MMA debut vs. Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in Cleveland

CM Punk vs. Mickey Gall set for UFC 203 Per MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani (and later on UFC Unfiltered) CM Punk announced that he will be facing Mickey Gall at UFC 203 on Sept. 10 in Cleveland. Punk (0-0) whose real name is Phil Brooks, mentioned that just cleared by doctors this week after a back injury has sidelined him since in February. He has been training for more than a year now at Roufusport in Milwaukee. Gall (2-0) heads into this matchup off a first-round submission victory over Mike Jackson in February. He was signed to the UFC after being discovered by UFC president Dana White and Serra on the “Lookin’ for a Fight” show on UFC Fight Pass. UFC 203 is headlined by a heavyweight title fight between champion Stipe Miocic and challenger Alistair Overeem.   UFC signs undefeated bantamweight Ketlen Vieira Per MMAFighting, undefeated bantamweight Ketlen Vieira has signed a four-fight deal with the UFC. No opponent or debut date was annouced. Vieira (7-0) made her MMA debut in October 2014 and has won all but one of her career bouts by stoppage. The Brazilian trans with UFC standouts Amanda Nunes, Bethe Correia and Larissa Pacheco.   Sultan Aliev vs. Hyun Gyu Lim set for UFC 202 UFC officials announced Wednesday that welterweight’s Sultan Aliev and Hyun Gyu Lim will clash at UFC 2002. Aliev (13-2 ) came up short in his UFC debut losing by first-round knockout to Kenny Robertson. With the setback, Aliev had his four-fight win streak snapped. Lim (13-5-1) heads into this matchup losing two of his last three bouts. UFC 202 takes place Aug. 20 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
