MMA Odds and Ends for Thursday: Cole Miller now faces BJ Penn at UFC 199 and coaches set for Season 24 of The Ultimate Fighter

BJ Penn vs. Cole Miller in the works for UFC 199 Following the news that Dennis Siver had to withdraw from UFC 199 due to injury, Cole Miller will now face BJ Penn according to a report from MMAFighting.  Miller (21-9, 1 NC) was on Team Jens Pulver on The Ultimate Fighter season 5 opposite Team BJ Penn in 2007. The 32-year old heads into this matchup off a no contest against Jim Alers at UFC on FOX 17r. Alers accidentally poked Miller in the eye in the second round of their December encounter fight. Miller’s hasn’t earned a victory since a Jan. 2014 submission win against Sam Sicilia. Penn (16-10-2) meanwhile hasn’t fought since his a July 2014 loss to Frankie Edgar. In addition the cast will be all flyweights competing in a 16-man tournament, with the winner facing UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson in the main event of the TUF 24 Finale. The cast has already been set and there will be no tryouts.  Benavidez (24-4) has lost twice to Johnson, but since his last defeat he’s won five straight. The 31-year old has only lost to champion Johnson in the flyweight division. Cejudo (10-1) is coming the first loss of his career as he was TKO’ed by Johnson at UFC 197 last month.
