UFC Fight Night 86’s Post-Fight Bonus-Award winners were… Derrick Lewis earns Performance of the Night for his first round knockout of veteran heavyweight Gabriel Gonzaga on the main card for UFC Fight Night 86 in Croatia. “The Black Beast” continues to roll and knock opponents out; usually he gets the job done in ground and pound position, but this time around, he ended the fight standing, putting the Brazilian out cold. It was an impressive victory for Lewis and another highlight to add to his reel, and for his next outing inside the Octagon, he hopes to draw Roy Nelson. Fight fans certainly look forward to that heavyweight showdown. Alejandro Perez earns Performance of the Night for his first round finish of Ian Entwistle, making it two in a row for himself inside the Octagon, with both victories coming inside the distance. Perez succesfully defended all of Entwistle’s damage and answered with ground and pound strikes of his own, until Entwistle could no longer take it. It was an impressive outing by the Mexican fighter, who appears to have a bright future in the UFC’s bantamweight division. Mairbek Taisumov earns Performance of the Night for his first round TKO of promotional newcomer Damir Hadzovic. The Chechnyan fighter now enjoys a four fight winning streak inside the Octagon, with all four victories coming by way of T/KO, and he hopes to draw ranked opposition for his next outing. Jared Cannonier earns Performance of the Night picked up his first win in the UFC and returned to the win column with a first round T/KO of South African promotional newcomer Cyril Asker. Cannonier was the superior striker heading into this contest and it was a matter of time until he found his reach and connected. Asker, who is generally known for having a good chin, hit the canvas like a pile of bricks and some ground and pound from Cannonier that followed forced the referee to step in and halt the action, giving Cannonier his first taste of Octagon victory. Following the bout, Cannonier announced his plans to move down to the UFC’s light heavyweight division. Noteworthy Performances: – Junior Dos Santos looked good in his five round unanimous decision victory over Ben Rothwell in the main event of the evening. He made his way back into the win column and regained his relevancy in hte UFC’s heavyweight division. – Damian Stasiak dominated promotional newcomer Filip Pejic from the opening bell, immediately securing his back, and shortly after taking his back and sinking in the rear naked choke to earn the tap and ultimately his first victory inside the Octagon.
