MMA Odds and Ends for Wednesday: UFC cuts three fighters, Michael Page out of Bellator 151

UFC releases Jorgensen, Roop, and Yui Chul Per Sherdog.com a couple of names have been removed from the UFC’s database including Scott Jorgensen, George Roop and Yui Chul Nam. Jorgensen (15-12) has lost three straight fights and six of his last seven bouts.  He’s known primarily for his fights with Urijah Faber and his WEC bantamweight title fight with Dominick Cruz at WEC 53 in 2010. Roop (15-12-1) was a contestant on Season 8 of The Ultimate Fighter where he ended up losing to Phillipe Nover via submission to eliminate himself from the competition. He fought the likes of Cub Swanson, “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung and Rob Font throughout his WEC/UFC career. He’s coming off back to back losses against Font and Takeya Mizugaki. Yui Chul (18-6-1) went 1-2 in the UFC winning his debut against Kazuki Tokudome and enduring back to back losses against Phillipe Nover and Mike De La Torre. Prior to the two-straight losses “The Korean Bulldozer” had won five straight fights.   Gilbert Smith replaces Michael Page vs. Fernando Gonzalez at Bellator 151 MMAJunkie.com reports that Bellator welterweight star Michael Page was forced to withdraw from his Bellator 151 matchup with Fernando Gonzalez. Instead RFA welterweight champion Gilbert Smith will be taking his spot. It’s not clear why Page has pulled out of the fight. Smith (12-4) is coming off back to back victories over Benjamin Smith and Bristol Marunde. Most fans will remember Smith for his stint on Season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter. The Factory X product will be making his Bellator debut. Gonzalez (24-13) has remained undefeated in the Bellator cage, earning victories over Karo Parisyan, Marius Zaromskis and Karl Amoussou. Bellator 151 takes place at Winstar World Casino & Resort in Thackerville, Okla. Here’s an updated look at the card. Joe Warren vs. Darrion Caldwell Fernando Gonzalez vs. Gilbert Smith Bubba Jenkins vs. Goiti Yamauchi Sirwan Kakai vs. Joe Taimanglo   RFA 36 main card finalized Things have finally taken shape for “RFA 36: Barcelos vs. Vannata” event as Logan Storley vs. Rode Vocu fills out the main card. Storley (2-0) is a four-time NCAA Division 1 All-American wrestler who transitioned into MMA. He made his professional MMA last year in August of 2015 and has won both of his pro-fights by knockout. Vocu (0-0) is competing in just his second professional bout. The 19-year old is coming off a second-round TKO victory over Dustin Larocque back in October. Also added to the card are  featherweights Dan Moret (9-2) vs. Josh Wick (5-1) and welterweights Reese Hernandez (14-3-2) vs. Kassius Holdorf (8-1). RFA 36 takes place March 4 at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minn.
