MMA Odds and Ends for Monday: Mousasi vs. Leites slated for UFC London, Holm open to fighting Cyborg

Report: Gegard Mousasi vs. Thales Leites set UFC London’s co-main event Mousasi posted a photo on Facebook Sunday suggesting that he’ll be fighting Thales Leites in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Silva vs. Bisping on Feb. 27 in London. That photo has since been deleted, however Leites’ camp confirmed with MMAFighting that the fight is in fact happening. UFC officials have yet to confirm the matchup. Mousasi (37-6-2) was scheduled to face Michael Bisping on this card, however the Brit was elevated to the main event slot to take on former middleweight champion Anderson Silva. The former Strikeforce Champion is coming off a stunning upset loss to Uriah Hall back September. Leites (25-5) lost to Bisping back in July which subsequently snapped an eight-fight win streak. Prior to that, the Brazillian was on a eight-fight win streak. The latest UFC Fight Night 83 lineup includes: Michael Bisping vs. Anderson Silva * Gegard Mousasi vs. Thales Leites  * – not confirmed by UFC Makwan Amirkhani vs. Mike Wilkinson Rustam Khabilov vs. Norman Parke Tom Breese vs. Keita Nakamura Henry Briones vs. Brad Pickett Davey Grant vs. Marlon Vera Arnold Allen vs. Yaotzin Meza Martin Svensson vs. David Teymur Teemu Packalen vs. Lukasz Sajewski Jarjis Danho vs. Daniel Omielanczuk Nikita Krylov vs. Jimi Manuwa   Holly Holm ‘open to’ fighting Cris Cyborg at heavier weight class Holm said in a media scrum via MMAFighting before UFC 194 that she’d be willing to move up in weight to fight Cris Cyborg, “I know with the UFC, they don’t have that division,” Holm said. “So, if that was something that they were going to put together, I’m not against it. I’m open to it.” The current UFC bantamweight champion has fought at 138, 145 and 154 as a boxer however has only completed at 135 in MMA. Cyborg (14-1 NC) is the former Strikeforce featherweight champion and is slated to fight Daria Ibragimova at Invicta FC 15 next month. She’s currently under contract with the UFC’s parent company Zuffa.   Report: UFC champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk ‘likely’ coaching TUF 23 According Polish outlet MMARocks.pl, UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk mentioned during a recent fan Q&A in Poland that she is “99 percent” likely to be one of the two coaches on the upcoming season of the TUF series. In addition UFC strawweight Tecia Torres also added some fuel to that speculation. “I hear that Claudia [Gadelha] and Joanna [Jedrzejczyk] are probably the coaches. The girls will have to fight to get into the house.” she said. The Ultimate Fighter 23 recently had tryouts for male light-heavyweights, as well as female strawweights. If this report comes to fruition, it would be the first time a pair of strawweight fighters would serve as coaches.
