UFC on Fox 17’s Kumaru Usman: ‘Leon Edwards knows he can’t be overaggressive’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC on Fox 17 welterweight Kamaru Usman as he prepares for his upcoming preliminary card bout this Saturday night (December 19, 2015) against Leon Edwards at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.

The Ultimate Fighter season 21 winner is a tremendous athletic specimen and he’s clearly done his homework in preparation for upcoming opponent, Leon Edwards:

“[Leon Edwards] is a very dynamic guy, a dynamic striker. If he’s smart, that’s how he’s gonna want to finish the fight. Everyone wants to be smart. He’s gonna try to be very calculated with how he approaches the fight because he knows he can’t get overaggressive. If he gets overaggressive, he’s gonna end up in a spot where he doesn’t want to be. He’s a stand-up guy and he’s very, very sharp and very dynamic in that kind of sense. In our room, we have over 30 guys anywhere from 125 to heavy or 205 and our coach makes us go with each and every person so when it’s time to fight, you’re prepared for each style that an opponent brings.”
