Matt Hughes: ‘What haunts me now is in my last fight, I didn’t get my hand raised’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes about his rival BJ Penn’s desire to come out of retirement.

The former UFC welterweight champion understand’s Penn’s desire to come back and he relayed his feelings to Trigg concerning what kind of comeback he hopes Penn attempts:

“What haunts me now is in my last fight, I didn’t get my hand raised. It’s not like [BJ Penn] got hit and knocked out. I said, ‘BJ, if you want to go again, go again. Let’s figure out a good, competitive opponent for ya,’ but we don’t need Frankie Edgar who’s got a gas tank that doesn’t end who’s quick and has beat you [three times] before. Let’s pick somebody else and let’s get your hand in the air and I say hang it up after that. He’s talking more of a title run kind of thing. I say get your hand in the air, walk away from the sport in that way and I’m gonna be happy with him, but I understand the desire he has.”
