Bellator 145’s Will Brooks: ‘I’m testing free agency when my Bellator contract is up’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 145 lightweight Will Brooks as he prepares for his upcoming main card title fight this Friday night (November 7, 2015) against Marcin Held at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

The current Bellator champion has expressed his discontent with how he’s been promoted since gaining gold, and he plans on testing the market when his contract expires in 10 months:

“What I’m doing and I’ll be honest about this and put it out there but I’m not in the business of helping Bellator. More power to them as far as having success on their cards and using me as a tool to help themselves but I’m in the business of helping myself right now. Helping myself, my fiance, my child that’s on the way, my family and making sure I’m in a position to have a comfortable life. That’s the business I’m in right now. After long discussions with my fiance and getting my mind wrapped around things, I’m gonna take my business into free agency after my contract is up with Bellator. If my math is right, I believe I have three fights or 10 months, whatever comes first. So I believe after this contract is up, I’ll be moving to free agency. I’ll be taking my business and putting it out there and whoever is willing to bid on it and give me what I feel like my business deserves, I’ll be willing to take those offers into consideration. That goes to Bellator too. I might be back with Bellator, but I’m taking all offers.”
