Fights to Avoid Betting for UFC 191

Joe-RiggsUFC 191 Date: September 5, 2015 Arena: MGM Grand Garden Arena City: Las Vegas, NV The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is back in Las Vegas again for UFC 191: Johnson vs Dodson. The action-packed 11-fight card has a five fight Pay Per View main card that kicks off at 10pm ET, with preliminary action preciding it on FOX Sports 1 at 8pm and UFC Fight Pass at 7pm prior to that. If interested in wagering on this parlay, or any bouts on this fight card, all betting lines will be made available at Several Bookmakerss. My Fights to AVOID betting for UFC 191 are: Middleweight bout: Joe Riggs (+150) vs Ron Stallings (-160) Gabe’s Thoughts: You never really know what to expect when Joe Riggs enters the Octagon. Either that, or you know exactly what to expect: a whole lot of nothing for three rounds. If he fails to find success using his wrestling and grinding Stallings out for 15 minutes, Stallings will likely outstrike him and possibly score a T/KO finish. If Riggs is in great shape and mentally focused, he should win this fight, but at this point in his career, he cannot be trusted, especially with my wallet. Tonight, he gets the chance to prove me wrong, but for the time being, this will be one fight I am staying away from betting today. Gabe’s Call: Stallings by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID Lightweight bout: Joaquim Silva (+125) vs Nazareno Malegarie (-135) Gabe’s Thoughts: There are too many question marks surrounding both fighters heading into their Octagon debuts, especially Silva. Silva is an undefeated fighter who has finished all eight of his professional mixed martial arts victories within the first round of action, so if unable to finish fellow Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Malegarie in the first stanza, I think he could be in trouble in rounds two and three. I think Malegarie’s veteran experience could benefit him in this contest, despite being at a physical size disadvantage, as he is naturally a featherweight. I cannot reasonably justify a wager on either fighter in their promotional debuts here, so this ultimately has to be a fight I avoid at the sportsbook today. Gabe’s Call: Malegarie by Submission (rear naked choke, 3:47 round 3) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID
