MMA Odds and Ends for Tuesday: Marquardt vs. Ellenberger Booked For UFC 158

Jake-Ellenberger After yesterday’s shuffling of the UFC 158 card due to an injury to Rory MacDonald that left Jake Ellenberger without an opponent when Johny Hendricks was shifted to fight Carlos Condit in the co-main event, the UFC has decided to match “The Juggernaut” up with another top welterweight, this time former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nate Marquardt, who confirmed the bout on his Twitter account. This is a great matchup between two of the strongest 170 pounders in the world and the line should be pretty even when it comes out, although Marquardt will likely open as a tiny favorite. Line For Gustaffson/Mousasi Released MMA oddsmaker Nick Kalikas today released his opening MMA odds through Several Bookmakers for the upcoming UFC on FUEL TV 9 main event between light heavyweight studs Alexander Gustafsson and Gegard Mousasi. Gustafsson is a -260 favorite, while Mousasi is a +180 underdog. This should be a competitive fight but I would lean towards Gustafsson, who is a much bigger fighter than Mousasi and equally skilled. Dillashaw/Tamura Set For UFC 158 An injury to Mitch Gagnon has forced the bantamweight off the upcoming UFC 158 card and he’s been replaced by TJ Dillashaw, who will fight Issei Tamura on the preliminary card. The news was reported by Neil Davidson of the Canadian Press. This seems like an awful matchup for Tamura, and Dillashaw should enter the bout as at least a -250 and possibly a -300 favorite.
