MMA Odds and Ends for Tuesday: Marloes Coenen added to Bellator 141

marloes-coenenIt’s been a slow few days for fight announcements as nothing has been made official for any upcoming UFC events, but Bellator made a bit of news yesterday with a former Strikeforce champion having been added to its next fight card. Marloes Coenen vs Arlene Blencowe, Bellator 141 Coenen reigned as the Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion briefly, taking the title from Sarah Kaufman via submission and defending the strap against Liz Carmouche before losing her belt to Miesha Tate. “Rumina” has gone 3-1 since losing her title with her only loss being a gritty fourth round TKO defeat at the hands of elite women’s featherweight Chris ‘Cyborg’ Justino for the Invicta 145 lb title. Coenen was victorious in her Bellator debut via third round submission last October and she hasn’t fought since. Her opponent this time around, Arlene Blencowe, is only 6-4, so this feels like more of a tune-up fight than anything as she is groomed for a likely inaugural women’s featherweight title bout against Julia Budd sometime in the near future. Also announced for the Bellator 141 undercard were: 145 lbs: Adrienna Jenkins (18-6) vs. Lissette Neri (6-2) 170 lbs: Curtis Millender (7-2) vs. Steven Ciacco (4-3) 170 lbs: Johnny Cisneros (8-4) vs. Gabriel Miglioli (9-7)
