Gabe Killian’s Plays for WSOF 18

Marlon Moraes 2WSOF 18 Date: February 12, 2015 Arena: Edmonton Expo Centre City: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada WSOF 18 will be live on the NBC Sports Network tomorrow (Friday) night at 10pm ET with a four-fight main card. If interested in wagering on this card, these lines will be made available to you at Several Bookmakerss. Here are my plays for WSOF 18: Bantamweight title bout: Josh Hill (+525) vs Marlon Moraes (-750) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think Hill is a legit bantamweight and could end up winning a round or two with his wrestling, but ultimately I think the Brazilian’s superior striking and cardio will come into play. I would not be surprised to see him stop Hill early, but if he does put him away, I think it will come later in the fight more often than not. I see this fight going into the championship rounds, where Moraes will likely take over, and either find a stoppage or continue outstriking the Canadian en route to a unanimous decision victory on the judges’ scorecards. Gabe’s Call: Moraes by Unanimous Decision (48-47, 49-46, 49-47) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Over 2.5 rounds (-130) 1.95u to win 1.5u Lightweight bout: Derek Boyle (+270) vs Shane Campbell (-330) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think this fight will be a lot closer than the betting odds currently indicate and feel that Boyle has a decent chance of stealing a decision here, or even possibly scoring a finish, but I think a decision is more likely. This 155-pound scrap is a rematch of a fight from three years ago in which Campbell was victorious via unanimous decision. Since their last bout to today, I think Boyle has made more improvements than Campbell, and while he may still be at a disadvantage on the feet, I think this time around he has a better chance of making it ugly and giving the judges something to think about after a closely contested 15-minutes of action. I was originally eyeing Campbell as a piece for a parlay, but ended up changing my mind, as I think Boyle has a better chance to win this fight than the line of +270 would suggest. Gabe’s Call: Campbell by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Boyle (+270) .5u to win 1.35u Featherweight bout: Hakeem Dowadu (-360) vs Tristan Johnson (+300) Gabe’s Thoughts: Dowadu is by far the superior striker in this match-up and I think that will become very evident very early, as I expect him to put Johnson away in highlight-reel fashion within the first stanza. Gabe’s Call: Dowadu by T/KO (head-kick and punches, 0:45 round 1) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Under 1.5 rounds (-125) 1.25u to win 1u
