UFC Fight Night 54’s Daron Cruickshank: ‘Njokuani’s long arms don’t mean much when you’re close’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 54 lightweight Daron Cruickshank as he prepares for his upcoming preliminary card bout against Anthony Njokuani this Saturday (October 4, 2014) at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The Ultimate Fighter season 15 veteran knows he’ll have a distance height and reach disadvantage in this fight, but he’s been putting the time in to gameplan for it as best he can:

“For me, I’ve really been working on closing the distance in an open area, something without walls that I can pin him up against. Once I can get [Anthony Njokuani] in a cage that has walls I can put him up against, I’ll have an advantage. I’ve just been really working on closing the distance fast, staying inside, because he has the advantage outside. He has a disadvantage once I get inside. Those long arms don’t mean too much when you’re close. I just need to close the distance, stay inside and land some hard shots.”
