MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Battleground MMA’s Chael Sonnen as he prepares for his upcoming commentating debut alongside Jim Ross this Friday (October 3, 2014) at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The former UFC contender is branching out after retiring earlier this year and he couldn’t be happier to be working with one of his heroes in this upcoming endeavor:
“When the Jim Ross factor came in, from a level of excitement, it doesn’t get a lot better than Jim Ross. I can’t tell you anybody off the top of my head that’s done what he’s done. Here’s how Jim explains himself. He said, ‘When you grew up, did you think wrestling was real?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I did.” He then says, ‘Well who made you think that?’ I said, ‘Well, you did!’ And he said, ‘Exactly.’ He knows sports really well, but people think there’s the connotation that they’re doing something staged. He said, ‘If I can make you think something staged is real, imagine what I can do with the real product!’ And that was it for me. I was like, ‘Where do I sign? I cannot beat that argument.'”
