UFC Fight Night 50 Closing Odds & Results

John-Moraga UFC Fight Night 50 took place tonight at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, CT, and the card overall turned out to be a surprise hit as it featured a number of awesome finishes and great fights overall. In total, five favorites and four underdogs won based on the closing odds at Several Bookmakers. Here’s a quick recap for each fight. Favorites That Won In the main event of the evening, Jacare Souza defeated Gegard Mousasi via third-round submission (guillotine choke). Souza was able to take Mousasi down at will before finally sinking in the choke for the W in round three. Souza closed as a -185 favorite (bet $185 to win $100) while Mousasi closed as a +170 underdog (bet $100 to win $170). In a lightweight bout, Al Iaquinta defeated Rodrigo Damm via third-round KO (punches). Iaquinta tagged Damm the entire fight and in the third round found his range with strikes and knocked him out with a set of brutal punches. Iaquinta was a -600 favorite while Damm was a +500 dog. In a middleweight bout, Rafael Natal defeated Chris Camozzi via split decision (28-29, 28-29, 29-28). Most thought Camozzi deserved to win the fight based on more effective striking, but the judges sided with Natal and he took home the victory. Natal was -185 while Camozzi was +170. In a bantamweight bout, Chris Beal defeated Tateki Matsuda via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27). Beal had a tough time figuring out Matsuda early on, but by round two found his range and used his striking and wrestling to control the final two rounds and win a decision. Beal was -500 and Matsuda was +435. In a featherweight bout, Chas Skelly defeated Sean Soriano via unanimous decision (30-27 x 3). Skelly used his superior wrestling to take Soriano down and control him on the mat en route to an easy decision victory. Skelly was -185 while Soriano was +170. Underdogs That Won In a heavyweight bout, Ben Rothwell defeated Alistair Overeem via first-round KO (punches). Rothwell clipped Overeem with some massive punches that put The Reem on the mat and out for good. Rothwell was a +300 dog while Overeem was a -330 favorite. In a heavyweight bout, Matt Mitrione defeated Derrick Lewis via first-round KO (punches). Mitrione threw heavy leather at Lewis and was able to take him out very quickly into round one. Mitrione was a +116 dog while Lewis was a -126 favorite. In a lightweight bout, Joe Lauzon defeated Michael Chiesa via second-round TKO (doctor stoppage). Lauzon beat up Chiesa with his muay Thai to open up a big cut on Chiesa’s face and force a stoppage by the doctors. Lauzon was a +190 dog while Chiesa was a -210 favorite. In a flyweight bout, John Moraga defeated Justin Scoggins via second-round submission (guillotine choke). Scoggins was winning the fight with his wrestling but Moraga caught his neck in a choke and didn’t let go en route to an upset win. Moraga was a +230 dog while Scoggins was a -250 favorite.
