Bellator 123’s Pat Curran: ‘I switched my training camp to Team Takedown for this fight’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 123 featherweight Pat Curran as he prepares for his upcoming world title bout against Patricio Pitbull this Friday (September 5th, 2014) at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

The current Bellator featherweight champion made some big changes heading into this fight, primarily the decision to leave his cousin’s Team Curran gym in Chicago for Mark Laimon’s Team Takedown gym in Texas:

“This opportunity came up where I was able to come to Dallas to help Chas Skelly with his upcoming fight and I decided to stay and do my camp there because it was too good an opportunity to pass up. It was a very hard decision to make. I love everyone at Team Curran  but this was another change in my life I felt I needed to make to help me grow as a fighter. It’s been for the best. At the same time, my parents live 30 minutes away from Team Takedown so right now I’m staying at my parents’ house. I’m close with my family and it’s been hard living the last seven years in Chicago. It’s been great. This is probably one of the happiest and stress-free training camps I’ve ever had. That makes a big difference for a fighter when you’re at a great place mentally. I’m in a great place right now.”
