UFC Fight Night 47’s Shawn Jordan: ‘I was in a bad place mentally for the last year’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 47 heavyweight Shawn Jordan as he prepares for his upcoming main card bout against Jack May this Saturday (August 16, 2014) at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine.

The gritty heavyweight has made several changes after losing two straight bouts via knockout, and he feels he’s in the right place mentally now:

“I went through some life changes and stuff. I was in a bad place mentally for the last year. Kind got away from fighting for about a month after my last fight and just kinda reset. I made some changes and I’m in a lot better place mentally now. Those last two losses, I went in there brawling and I wasn’t actually competing like I actually do. Gonzaga caught me with a perfect counter left hook. You throw that punch 100 times and it lands clean once but it landed that night and it was great for him. The Matt Mitrione fight, again, I was brawling. I wasn’t mentally in the fight. Good for those guys they got wins out of it. I turned it around and focused my camp mentally this time and I just kind of prepared for everything.”
