UFC 173’s Daniel Cormier: ‘Dan Henderson is my short-term goal’

MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC 173 light heavyweight Daniel Cormier as he prepares for his co-main event bout this Saturday (May 24, 2014) against Dan Henderson at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The unbeaten top contender knows he has a tough test ahead of him, but he’s been training to fight the champion Jon Jones ever since he decided to drop to light heavyweight:

“When I was at heavyweight and Brock Lesnar was the champion, I was training for Brock Lesnar. Then when I came to 205 and I knew I was coming to 205, I trained to beat Jon Jones. You have to attain the skills to beat a guy like that. I prepared for the best guy in the weight division for a really long time and Dan Henderson has been my short-term goal for the last six weeks. I go conquer that goal and then I will move towards my ultimate goal of becoming UFC champ.”
