Bellator 114 Closing Odds & Results

Bellator-89 Bellator 114 took place tonight in Salt Lake City, Utah, and overall the card was decent as it provided a few cool finishes to drown out a couple of stinkers. From an odds point of view, all seven betting favorites won. The youngster Ward dominated the fight early on but by the second tired out and Shlemenko was able to punish his body with kicks and punches, and submit him quickly with a beautiful guillotine once the fight hit the mat. Shlemenko cashed as a -360 favorite (bet $360 to win $100), while Ward lost at +325 (bet $100 to win $325). In the first featherweight semifinal, Daniel Weichel defeated Matt Bessette via unanimous decision (30-27 x 2, 29-28). This was a very boring fight that consisted of Weichel taking his opponent down to the mat and laying on him until the end of 15 minutes. Weichel won at -230 while Bessette lost at +210. In the second featherweight semifinal, Desmond Green defeated Will Martinez via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27 x 2). Green used his explosive takedowns at the right times to get the fight to the mat and win the rounds in the eyes of the judges. He scored as a -210 fav, while Martinez lost as a +190 dog. Green will now face Weichel in the tournament finale. In a middleweight semifinal, Brett Cooper defeated Kendall Grove via second-round KO (punches). Grove dominated the first round as he had back control of Cooper for nearly the entire five minutes, but Cooper was able to keep the fight standing in the second and he eventually touched Grove’s chin and put his lights out with ground and pound. Cooper cashed at -250, while Grove lost at +230. In a lightweight matchup, Justin Wilcox defeated Jason Fischer via unanimous decision (29-28 x 3). Wilcox used his takedowns to get the fight to the mat, where he was able to lay in top control in order to score points in the judges’ eyes and win the decision. Wilcox scored at -245, while Fischer lost at -175. In a lightweight bout, Bubba Jenkins defeated Sean Powers via unanimous decision (30-27 x 3). Jenkins used his wrestling to take the fight to the mat, where he beat up Powers over the course of three rounds to seal the win. He scored as a -1350 fav, while Powers lost as a big +650 dog. In a dark match, Rad Martinez defeated Edson Berto via unanimous decision (29-28 x 3). The fight was unaired and details are scarce but regardless Martinez cashed at -260 while Berto lost at +180.
