WSOF 8’s Anthony Johnson: ‘I won’t take Mike Kyle for granted’

MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with World Series of Fighting 8 light heavyweight Anthony Johnson as he prepares for his main card bout tonight (Jan. 18, 2013) against Mike Kyle at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

The talented Imperial Athletics member knows he has a stern test in front of him, but he feels he’s better than Mike Kyle in just about every facet of mixed martial arts. Despite that, he is still taking Kyle and his power very seriously:

“Mike is a tough fighter. He’s a striker of course. Do I think he sticks to his gameplan that much when it comes down to fighting? I don’t really see it because Mike has his way of doing things too from what I’ve seen in his fights. You can’t always judge a guy by his last fight. You have to make adjustments to that person and what you assume he’s gonna do. Do I think he’ll try to trade punches with me? Yeah, I do. Do I think it’s a good part on his behalf? No. Is it smart on my behalf? I think I can exchange with him any day but I will take him down if I have to. I think my wrestling’s better his. I think my striking’s better than his but at the end of the day, he’s a fighter and anyone can get knocked out. I won’t take him for granted.”
